ISLAND HOPPING will feature photographs of places and people that we find interesting. First post for the series.

THE RIDE | “Ari na ang pambot, ari na ang pambot” | This is the pumpboat at Jordan Wharf in Iloilo City, which we have to reach also by riding a boat from Bacolod, that will ferry us to Jordan town in Guimaras province | The travel is about 15 minutes away

THE FLOATING PONKANS | “In case of an emergency, wrestle the person nearest you if he has already grabbed the life jacket above you” | The life jackets seem to be enough for more than 40 of us

THE MANGOES OF GUIMARAS | The secret is in the soil, the Guimaras natives say when asked why their mangoes taste different from those in other places | There was mango festival when we arrived | These ones were on display at the town plaza in Jordan town

MANGO TREES | A carpet of blue and green can be seen along the national highway in Guimaras province | These are mango trees that can be seen almost anywhere

BALAS, BATO, BAYBAY | Sun, sea, sky and sand | Photo taken in one of the islets in Guimaras province

BOAT FOR RENT | A cruise to the nearby islets from Nueva Valencia town would cost P600 for three hours
SNORKELLING | NegrosSugar swimming in the waters near Lawi islet in Jordan town

PONTOON BOARDWALK | This connects the fish hatcheries and breeding tanks to the SEAFDEC office in Nueva Valencia town, Guimaras

LAB-AS | The freshest catch of the day from the fishermen of Guimaras

  4. NegrosSugar and BacolodSpice: I just want to ask what kind of camera you were using to have produced such crisp, clear pictures.

Grabe ang clarity sang pix, its like they are leaping off the page.
